First, a key supporter of Republican George Allen says the fact that he's a husband and father would give him an edge as governor because he'd be more sensitive to family issues than his opponent, Democrat Mary Sue Terry.
Then a Terry supporter says the fact that she is unmarried and childless would give her the edge because Terry would be "free to give all her energy [to the office], not just what is left over from family duties."
Oh. Virginia governors who've had families (and virtually all of Virginia's governors have had) didn't put enough hours and energy into the job, huh?
Holy matrimony! Sputtering spinsters!
Is this a contest for governor or the admssions exam for the University of Larry, Curly and Moe?
Enough already.
