OBIT LAX, EDGAR L., 64, OF ROANOKE COUNTY, DIED
LAX, Edgar L., 64, of Roanoke County, died Saturday, August 28, 1993, in a
local hospital. Mr. Lax was retired from the United States Navy, serving
during World War II and later in the Nuclear Submarine Service. Mr. Lax was a
retired Town Manager of Orange with 21 years of service. He was a member of
the Orange Masonic Lodge. Mr. Lax was preceded in death by a son, Lt.
Commander Michael S. Lax. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Ewing Lax of Roanoke
County; a son, Andrew W. Lax of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Susan L. O'Brien
of Roanoke County; three grandchildren; mother, Rebecca Fowler of High Point,
N.C. Funeral services will be held at Colonial Presbyterian Church at 12 noon
Wednesday with the Dr. Michael R. Nevling officiating. Interment will follow
in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's
South Chapel where the family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
