OBIT REED, ELVIN SIDNEY, 71, OF FLOYD, PASSED
REED, Elvin Sidney, 71, of Floyd, passed away Sunday, August 29, 1993 in a
Roanoke hospital. He was owner of Reed Lumber Mill and was preceded in death
by a sister, Edna Bishop. He is survived by his wife, Velma Roberson Reed,
Floyd; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Linda Reed, Floyd; one daughter
and son-in-law, Jennifer and Roger Hollandsworth, Floyd; two grandchildren,
Brannon Reed and Dustin Hollandsworth, both of Floyd; two step grandchildren,
Diana and Michael Harris, Floyd; one brother, Melvin Reed, Alum Ridge; three
sisters, Ima Cannaday, Roanoke, Velma Townley, Floyd and Elsie Dudley,
Blacksburg. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel,
with Rev. Stanley Hawkins officiating. Interment in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Gardner Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Tuesday, where the
family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Floyd County Rescue Squad or the Laurel Branch Church.
