Jones, in her second term as head of the governing group, is the first female rector in Radford's history. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University, and is an independent filmmaker who splits her time between Floyd and Washington.
Jones has served on the board since 1983.
Bernard C. Wampler was re-elected vice rector. Wampler, who joined the board in 1991, is president and chief executive officer of Pulaski Furniture Corp. and a graduate of North Carolina State University.
Two New River Valley women, Karen H. Waldron of Shawsville and Ginger R. Mumpower of Radford, were recently named to the board.
Waldron is president of Bent Tree Farm Inc. and a member of the finance committee for Fralin and Waldron, a Roanoke-based real estate development company.
Mumpower is co-owner of Ginger's Jewelry, a chain of retail stores.
