BENT MOUNTAIN CRASH INJURES 3 SERIOUSLY

Three people were seriously hurt Monday in a three-car crash on Bent Mountain in Roanoke County.

Two of them had to be cut from their vehicles by firefighters. All three were still receiving treatment in the emergency room at Roanoke Memorial Hospital nearly five hours after the pileup.

Roanoke County police identified the injured as Dennis Robinson, 38, of Roanoke; Michelle Fisher, 23, of Catawba; and Michael Allen, age and address unknown.

A fourth person, Allan Ham, 27, of Roanoke County, was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury but was not admitted.

The accident happened about 4:40 p.m. on U.S. 221 near its intersection with Twelve O'clock Knob Road, Roanoke County Officer C.J. Mahoney said.

Mahoney said Fisher and Ham were driving up the mountain when a vehicle driven by Robinson, who was heading in the other direction, crossed the center line and struck their vehicles.

Allen was a passenger in Robinson's car.

All three cars appeared to be totaled, Mahoney said.

The officer said charges are pending.
