ROBERTSON COMPANY BUYS SHOW PRODUCER

The parent company of cable television's The Family Channel plans to buy a company that produces live variety shows at three South Carolina theaters.

International Family Entertainment, the Virginia Beach-based parent of The Family Channel, and Calvin Gilmore Productions Ltd. did not disclose the terms.

Calvin Gilmore produces musical shows at the Carolina Opry in Myrtle Beach, the Dixie Jubilee in North Myrtle Beach and the Southern Country Nights in Surfside Beach.

Tim Robertson, chief executive officer of International Family Entertainment, said the deal "represents a wonderful opportunity for IFE to expand into live entertainment." - Associated Press
