Game warden Sgt. R.P. Hickman said the geese were found dead Sept. 7 and were poisoned by an unidentified chemical. The chemical apparently was mixed with seed and left out on the course for the birds, he said.
Golfers had complained that the flock was damaging the course, tearing up the fairways and defecating on the putting greens.
It is illegal to poison migratory waterfowl. Hickman said he will decide by Wednesday whether to file charges.
The workers who poisoned the geese didn't mean to kill them, only to make them sick so they'd fly away, said Jerry Moore, president of Governor's Land Management Co. - Associated Press
