OBIT MOORE, RHEA F. JR.
MOORE, Rhea F. Jr., 68, of Tazewell, died Tuesday, September 21, 1993, in a
Charlottesville hospital. Born in North Tazewell, he was the son of the late
Rhea F. and Launah Ireson Moore. He was a member of Tazewell Presbyterian
Church where he served as Elder and was a past clerk of the session. He was a
graduate of Virginia Tech and State University and served on the University's
Board of Visitors. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and was
a member of V.F.W. Post #7136 and American Legion Post #133. He was active in
the Democratic Party and served as clerk of the Circuit Court for Tazewell
County for 31 years. He was past President of the Virginia Clerks Association
and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Tazewell Community
Hospital. He was a member of the Tazewell Masonic Lodge #62 A.F. & A.M., the
Clinch Valley Commandery #20, the O'Keeffe Royal Arch Chapter #26, the Kazim
Temple of the Shriners and was a member of the Tazewell Lions Club. Survivors
include his wife, Vivian Branham Moore; daughter, Melissa Sutherland of
Madison Heights; son, Rhea Walden Moore of New Haven, Conn; grandchildren,
Jenny and Molly Sutherland. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11
a.m. at the Tazewell Presbyterian Church with the Dr. James B. Hollenhead
officiating. Burial will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell. Friends
may call at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell from 7 to 9 p.m.
