Don Hazelton, executive director of the Florida Athletic Commission, said his agency has been looking into allegations described in the current issue of Sports Illustrated for several months and recently turned over the probe to the state prosecutor's office.
Journeyman heavyweight Sonny Barch told Sports Illustrated he threw a fight against Cobb on Sept. 15, 1992 in Fort Lauderdale. Barch accused Orlando-based promoter Rick Parker of arranging the fix in that and 11 other bouts, including several involving Gastineau. Parker denied the allegations.
\ After 17 years of marriage and two years of struggling through divorce proceedings, Junior and Flossie Johnson have reached an amiable settlement concerning their assets and are friends again.
"I'll still own the racing teams," said Junior Johnson, who owns the Winston Cup cars driven by Bill Elliott and Hut Stricklin. "I have a lot invested in them."
His ex-wife will get their home and poultry farm under the terms of an out-of-court divorce settlement.
