COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH TO DEDICATE ADDITION SUNDAY

Covenant Presbyterian Church on Deyerle Road Southwest has enlarged its two-level building to accommodate overflow congregations for its morning service. The $350,000 improvement project will be dedicated Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

The Rev. George Magnuson, director of ministries for Presbytery of the Peaks will lead the dedication service. Covenant has about 700 members, and 350 regularly attend services.

The enlargement includes the addition of 72 seats, bringing the seating capacity in the nave to 450. Also, the pulpit has been moved, and the choir area has been expanded.

The upper level now includes a multipurpose room with additional space for the music program. The lower level houses the choir practice room. Full accessibility for those who cannot climb steps also is provided.

The Covenant congregation built the original worship area 27 years ago and added offices about 12 years ago.
