OBIT KENT, JAMES ALFRED JR.
KENT, James Alfred Jr., 68, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, September 30,
1993, in a local hospital. He was retired from the United States Marine Corps
and had served during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam War. He
was also a retired Vice President of the Roanoke Home Builders Association and
he was a member the Retired Officers Association of Roanoke Valley. He was
predeceased by a sister, Julie Kent. He is survived by four daughters,
Patricia Ann Ingram, Placentia, Calif., Jacqueline Dunbar, Vinton, Becky
Shaffer, Goodview, Soni Mills, Roanoke; one brother, Ben Kent, Greenville,
Miss.; one sister, Ruby Steen, Florida; ten grandchildren. Funeral services
will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 1993, from the Thrasher Memorial
United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wm. Anthony Layman will officiate. Burial to
follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with military honors by the United
States Marine Corps. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday. The family will
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Lotz Vinton Chapel.
