OBIT MAYS, DAVID F. SR.
MAYS, David F. Sr., 81, of Deptford, N.J., formerly of Roanoke, died
Monday, September 27, 1993. He was in the US Marine Reserve Company G from
1933 to 1937. He was also a former employee of the America Viscose Corp. in
Roanoke. Mr. Mays was a member of the Steamfitter Local Union #420 of
Philadelphia, Pa. of 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary Catlett Mays; two
daughters, Nora R. Stryzek, Westville, N.J., Roxie Mays, Deptford, N.J.; one
son, David Fitzhugh Mays Jr., Deptford, N.J.; three grandchildren, Jennifer
Stryzek, Dawn Mays, Kelli Mays; three brothers, Lawrence Lee Mays, Roanoke,
James H. Mays, Tampa, Fla., Beverly Van Mays, Newark, Delaware; two sisters,
Ruth Anderton, Salem, Mildred Henderson, Little Rock, Ark. Funeral services
will be at the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev.
Harry E. Leland officiating. Interment with military honors by V.F.W. Post
#1264 will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from
7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
