DATELINE: DUBLIN HALLOWEEN WILL BE OBSERVED A DAY EARLY IN PULASKI COUNTY THIS LENGTH: Short

IS IT A TRICK OR A TREAT? HALLOWEEN COMES EARLY

At a joint meeting of the governing bodies of Pulaski County and the towns of Pulaski and Dublin at Claytor Lake State Park Thursday evening, that was the preference in a non-binding vote by all three. The county Board of Supervisors and the two town councils will now act individually on changing the observance from its regular date of Oct. 31, a Sunday, to Oct. 30, a Saturday.

Dublin Mayor Benny Keister said the public preference seemed to be for young children taking part in Halloween activities to do so on a day other than Sunday, especially since they would be in school Monday and should not be up late the night before.

Dublin hosted the meeting. The next one was set for Jan. 31, to be hosted by the Town of Pulaski.
