TECH TO SPONSOR ANTLERLESS DEER HUNT

A regulated antlerless deer hunt will be conducted by the Virginia Tech Police Department on university property Nov. 15-27.

The purpose is to reduce and control the deer population that has been destroying research and farm crops.

Hunting is limited to antlerless deer because the younger deer are more abundant and more reproductive. Any hunters who kills an antlerless deer this year will be allowed to hunt antlered deer next year, if conditions permit.

Hunters must be at least 12 and people under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Shotguns are the only firearms allowed.

About 150 hunters will be chosen in a drawing. Each hunter must submit an official application to the Virginia Tech Police Department by Oct. 15.

Applications and copies of regulations may be picked up at the Tech Police Department. For more information, call Officer Kevin English at 231-6411.
