OBIT BOWLES EMILY SUTHERLAND

BOWLES, Emily Sutherland, 46, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, September 30, 1993 as the result of an automobile accident. Mrs. Bowles was a native of Illinois, born on March 3, 1947, and was preceded in death by her father, James Sutherland. She was a third grade teacher at Christiansburg Elementary School. Surviving are her husband, Michael W. Bowles; one daughter, Susan Bowles; one son, Jason Michael Bowles, all of Blacksburg; her mother, Barbara Wilder Sutherland, Pinehurst, N.C.; one sister, Molly S. Gwinn and family; one brother, William Sutherland and family. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 1993 at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Michael Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christiansburg Elementary School, 160 Betty Drive, N.W., Christiansburg, Va. 24073. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
