RHEA-WILKINSON

Laura Rebecca Wilkinson and David Orman Rhea were united in marriage on July 10, 1993 in Chilhowie UnitedMethodist Church with Rev. David St.Clair and Rev. Terry Goodmanofficiating. An outdoor reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father. Dora Hill was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Sherri Ginn, Rona Allison, and Grace Counts-Smith, cousin of the groom.

W. Max Rhea served as his son's best man. The ushers were Walt Rhea, brother of the groom; John Counts, cousin of the groom; Chad Boardwine, Mike Stone, Bart Jones and David Buchanan. James and Stephen Britton were the acolites. The guestbook attendant was Leola Griffin. Wedding music was presented by Patricia Britton, organist; Tony Collins, acoustical guitarist; the Chilhowie United Methodist Church Chancel Choir; and Jeanie Maxey, soloist.

The bride wore a formal gown of white silk shantung with an open neckline and bonnett sleeves. The princess bodice flowed into a cathedral train accented with pearl buttons down the front of the gown. The bride wore the headpiece worn by her mother 35 years ago in her wedding and the pearl earrings given to her mother by her father on their wedding day. The bride also wore a pearl bracelet received from the groom on their wedding day. She carried her mother's bible under acascade bouquet of orchids, ivory rose buds, alstameria lilies, stephanotis and baby's breath.

Rebecca is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Wilkinson of Chilhowie, Va. She is the granddaughter of Joseph S. Garretson and the late Edith McNeilGarretson and the late Samuel LeeWilkinson and Katherine SchulerWilkinson. She is a graduate of Chilhowie High School and Emory and HenryCollege, and is employed by the Smyth County School System.

David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Max Rhea of Saltville. He is the grandson of Mary Craig Caldwell Rhea and the late Walter Haynes Rhea and the late Louise Campbell Carter and James Edmond Carter. He is a graduate of R.B. Worthy High School and Emory and HenryCollege, and is employed by FirstNational Bank of Saltville.

Following their wedding trip toFlorida, the newlyweds reside in Saltville, Va.
