Altavista's Brooke Mitchell, who scored 14 points in the first half, was held without a field goal in the third quarter as Staunton River pulled away. The Colonels are 4-7 overall and in the district. \

HILLSVILLE - None of the Cavaliers scored in double digits, but Carroll County still managed to defeat the Rockets in a non-district contest.
Craig County (7-3) took an early lead, but the Cavaliers (3-5) used a pressure defense to come back and take a 10-point lead. The Rockets rallied in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome Carroll County's defense.
Craig County's Chrissy Robertson led all scorers with 24 points. \

The Buffaloes built a 50-12 halftime lead as they overwhelmed the Spartans in the Mountain Empire District.
Leigh-Ann Pursifull scored 12 points, Brennen O'Neil had 11 and Laura Harman added 10 for Floyd County (11-1, 9-0).
Kelly Davis had nine points to lead Giles (2-8, 2-7). \

BLUEFIELD - The Indians shut out Graham in the first quarter to spark a non-district romp. \

Jennifer Vest converted a three-point play with four seconds left to give the Wildcats a non-district victory over the Cougars on Monday night.
Covington led by one with 11 seconds to play, but a turnover set up a fast break for Vest. She was fouled and hit the free throw as Rockbridge pulled out the victory after blowing an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Michelle Jeter led the Cougars with 11 points. \
