OBIT DEARING, ALETHA M.
DEARING, Aletha M., 83, of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, October 5,
1993, in Williamsburg Community Hospital. A native of Roanoke, she had been a
Williamsburg resident since 1956. She was a charter member of the Roanoke
Chapter #1022, Women of the Moose, past Senior Regent of the Roanoke Moose
Lodge #1022, and past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Williamsburg
Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of the Williamsburg United
Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Elbert W.
(Pop) Dearing, a retired sign painter of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Beverly and James
Manning of Roanoke, Shirley Evans of Hampton, Betty Weaver of Williamsburg;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Robin and JoAnn Dearing of Salem, Versal and
Wanda Dearing of Roanoke; one sister, Lizzie Poff of Roanoke; eight
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five
stepgreat-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Umphlett Funeral
Home, Newport News, Friday, October 8, 1993, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services
will be conducted noon Saturday, October 9, 1993, Mountain View Cemetery,
Vinton, with the Rev. Howard Peters officiating.
