OBIT STROCK, SIDNEY CHARLES
STROCK, Sidney Charles, ("John Davey"), 75, of Bland, died Tuesday, October
5, 1993, at his home. He was born July 12, 1918, in Bland County, the son of
the late Zachariah Whitt and Hassie Mitchell Strock. He was a veteran of World
War II and was retired from Burlington Industries, Dublin. He was preceded in
death by a son, Larry Earl Strock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Wreathia
Patton Strock; one daughter, Ms. Phyllis Strock, Greensboro, N.C.; five
brothers, William David Strock, W. S. (Bud) Strock, Garnet Strock, Harry
Strock and Bobby Strock, all of Bland; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Muncey, Bland,
Mrs. Thelma Booker, Mount Airy, N.C., Mrs. Doll McPeak and Mrs. Mary Lou
Toothman of Front Royal. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the A.
Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with the Rev. Claude Dove and
Rev. E. C. Redmond officiating. Burial in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visiting
will be Thursday after 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the family receiving
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Mechanicsburg Cemetery
Fund.
