DAUGHTER IS CHARGED IN MURDER ATTEMPT

A woman was charged Thursday with attempted first-degree murder for allegedly trying to kill her father with an injection while he was a patient at Clinch Valley Medical Center.

Betty R. Robinson, 39, of Richlands, was held at the Tazewell County jail after her arraignment.

Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Dennis said Robinson injected Malcolm Robinson, 81, with a corrosive substance through an intravenous line on Feb. 17. Authorities have refused to specifically identify the substance.

Robinson, a diabetic, has since been released from the hospital.

Dennis said Robinson also was charged with forgery, uttering and obtaining money under false pretenses in connection with a $4,000 personal check deposited into her father's account. - Associated Press
