APPEAL TO COME ON ATTACKER'S SENTENCE

Prosecutors plan to appeal a German court's decision that freed the attacker of tennis star Monica Seles.

Steffi Graf, whose obsessed knife-wielding fan carried out the attack in Hamburg, blasted the suspended sentence.

"How could a man who endangered someone's life leave the courtroom free?," Graf asked in a statement from her home in Germany.

Ruediger Bagger, a spokesman for the prosecutors, said, "We do not agree with the sentence," and announced Thursday that there would be an appeal.
