OBIT MARTIN, JAMES OTHO SR.

MARTIN, James Otho Sr., 67, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, October 14, 1993 in the Veterans Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Martin was a Past Master of both the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #161 and McDaniel Lodge #86 AF&AM in Christiansburg. He was a member of the Richmond Scottish Rite, Acca Temple and of the Legion of Honor there. He was also a member of Taylor Royal Arch Chapter #70 and a Past Patron of McDaniel Chapter #47, OES in Christiansburg, past Advisory Council member, Order of Demolay and a member of American Legion Post #59. Surviving are his wife, Mary Bishop Martin; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Jim Bean, Richmond; a son, James O. Martin Jr. of Chester; two brothers, Ernest Martin, Pembroke, Arnold Martin, Chesapeake; a stepdaughter, Donna L. Epperly of N.J.; and five grandchildren. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted by McDaniel Chapter #47, OES at 8 p.m. Friday in the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday from the Richardson-Horne Chapel conducted by the Rev. Richard H. Horne. McDaniel Lodge #86 will hold Masonic Rites in the chapel immediately following the service. Burial will then follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family requests flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, c/o Kazim Temple, 628 W. Campbell Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24016 or to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends there from 7 to 9 Friday evening. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne.
