OBIT BYRD, WILLIAM HOMER
BYRD, William Homer 75, of Moneta, passed away Friday, October 15, 1993, in
Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born August 13, 1918 in Bedford County, a
son of the late Tom Byrd and Elvira Brown Bird. He was a retired welder, a
veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Radford Baptist Church. He
was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Blankenship. He is
survived by his wife, Kathleen Whitworth Byrd; two daughters & son-in-law,
Nancy & Hubert Blankenship, Wandy Byrd, all of Moneta; two brothes, Orie Byrd,
Moneta; Clay Byrd, Roanoke; two sisters, Sallie Willie Jones, Moneta; Carrie
Arthur, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Denny Blankenship, Kelly Blankenship,
Nikki Blankenship, Ashley Keesee. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday,
October 17, 1993 at 2 p.m. from the Radford Baptist Church, by the Rev. Vernon
DeLong. Interment will follow in the Byrd Family Cemetery. The family will
receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and
requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Huddleston Rescue
Squad.
