The only disappointing thing about f+bEarth Wind & Fire'so latest release is that the band's trademark cover artwork - futuristic and mystical images of Ancient Egypt - is reduced to CD size from the generous, full-size LPs (remember those?).
Earth Wind & Fire's distinctive sound is timeless. "Millennium" (Reprise) is just as good as the numerous albums in the band's more than 20-year history.
This is one of their more laid-back efforts in that it's filled with smooth love songs, like "Even If You Wonder" and "Just Another Lonely Night."
Maurice White and Philip Bailey's unique harmonies are at their strongest on "Blood Brothers," which could represent their own relationship.
It's not until halfway through the CD that the Earth Wind & Fire Horns really come alive in the upbeat "Love is the Greatest Story," but even then they never really get the chance to let loose. That aside, this compilation of 14 songs are a must for any EW&F fan.
