ROANOKE WOMAN DIES IN CAR CRASH

A Roanoke woman was killed in a two-car collision early Saturday on the Roy L. Webber Highway.

The 41-year-old woman died at the scene of the 5:30 a.m. accident, according to Roanoke police, who declined to fully identify the victim. The woman was driving in a northbound lane of the highway when her car collided with a car driven by Michael Jacobs of Roanoke.

Jacobs, 23, was in a southbound lane when his vehicle struck the guardrail and crossed the median into the path of the woman's car.

Jacobs was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he remained in very critical condition Saturday night in the intensive care unit, hospital officials said.
