OBIT SUTPHIN, CLAUDE WILLIAM

SUTPHIN, Claude William, 68, of Salem, and formerly of Carroll County, passed away Saturday, October 16, 1993, at Lewis-Gale Clinic, Salem. He was born February 3, 1925 in Carroll County to John William Sutphin and Mary Etta McGrady Sutphin. He is survived by one sister, Beulah Turner Farris of Cloverdale; one brother, Gene Sutphin of Troutville; several nieces and nephews; several grand-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, October 18, 1993, at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville with the Rev. Clarence Marshall officiating. Burial in the Laurel Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
