STARTING TIME CHANGED FOR UVA-UNC GAME

The starting time for Virginia's football game Saturday with North Carolina has been changed from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to accommodate ABC.

It will be the second straight TV appearance for UVa, whose game last Saturday with Florida State was carried by ESPN. North Carolina (7-1 overall, 4-1 ACC) holds second place in the conference standings, with UVa (5-1, 3-1) third.

At Lexington, Mike Young and Geoff Blum scored two goals each as VMI (3-10-1) defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 7-3 in men's soccer. Blum, who also had two assists, is now tied for second among points per game leaders at VMI. Trey Kirby's two assists gave him eight for the season, also a VMI record.

Brown scored twice in five minutes early in the second half to beat Virginia 2-0 in men's soccer. It was the first time in 48 home matches UVa (12-2) lost to a non-conference team.

At Radford, the Highlanders took 18 shots on goal, but were unable to stop Howard University (3-9) in a men's soccer match. Radford (2-11-2) lost 2-1 with the lone Highlander goal coming from sophomore Che Henderson.

At Lexington, Ky., Virginia Tech and Kentucky played to a 1-1 tie in a non-conference men's soccer game. Brian Macfarlane netted his fifth goal of the season for Tech (7-5-1) on an assist by Robert Ashworth.

At Blacksburg, Amy DeValue scored two goals for Monmouth College, which shut out Virginia Tech 4-0 in a women's soccer match.

At Madison, Wis., Michigan State (10-6) defeated 17th-ranked Virginia 2-1 in a women's soccer match. Danielle Desfosses scored the goal for UVa (5-7-1) which outshot the Spartans 7-4.
