OBIT CRAIG, ALVIN GARLAND
CRAIG, Alvin Garland, 73, of Route 1, Montvale, died Sunday, October 17,
1993, at his residence. He was born in Bedford County on May 2, 1920, a son of
the late James Alvin Craig and Martha Price Cofer Craig. He was a member of
Walnut Grove Union Church; and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in
death by a brother, Homer Craig; two sisters, Virginia Dawson and Randolph
Craig. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Craig; one son, Glen Craig,
Montvale; seven daughters, Jean Dudley, Martha Shepherd, Sue Lawrence, Sandra
Hunziker, all of Montvale, Joyce Natschke, Phoenix, Ariz., Anita Simmons,
Buchanan, Cindy Benson, Radford; one brother, Edward Jackson Craig, Montvale;
27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, also many loved sons-in-law
and a daughter-in-law. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday,
October 20, 1993, at the Walnut Grove Union Church with the Rev. Elmer Sellers
and Rev. Lee Chattin officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Union
Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at
the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
