While donations of cash and new items are emphasized, used items in good\ condition also are needed. An all-volunteer organization supported entirely by\ private donations, the Christmas Store also needs additional helpers.
Last year, the Christmas Store served 1,173 families who needed extra help\ at Christmastime. The Christmas Store is open to all eligible residents of\ Montgomery County.
In addition to money, the Christmas Store is seeking:
Non-perishable food items, including canned goods, powdered milk, cereal and special-diet items.
Winter items for infants and toddlers, including sleepers, diapers,\ blankets, car seats and strollers.
Warm children's clothing, new or used, especially coats, sweaters, jeans,\ underwear, hats and gloves.
Toys, games and sporting goods.
Gifts for teens.
Household items, Christmas wrapping paper, small gift items and paper\ grocery bags.
The Christmas Store needs new or used winter clothing and shoes that are clean and in good repair. The store cannot accept summer wear, furniture or large appliances.
Donated items can be delivered Saturday mornings, through Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at:
Northside Presbyterian Church, 1017 Progress St., Blacksburg.
Former Heck's store, Roanoke Road, Christiansburg.
