FIRE DEPARTMENT DINNER IN NEWBERN

The annual fund-raising dinner for the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department will be held Saturday, 5 p.m., at the Newbern Community Center. The dinner is free, but donations are welcome.

Residents of communities served by the department are asked to provide a meat, vegetable, salad or dessert dish, or bread or condiments. The department covers Claytor Lake, Mount View, Lyons and Mill roads and Newbern.

Money raised will go toward the purchase of a new pumper tanker. Call 674-6024 or 674-2640.
