OBIT PORTER, OAKLEY UNA ROBINSON

PORTER, Oakley Una Robinson, 82, of Rt 1, Ivanhoe, died Monday, October 18, 1993, at her residence. She was born in Carroll County, the daughter of the late William and Elva Frost Robinson. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett M. Porter, and a son, Gaston Porter. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma Barrett of Chester, Norma and Joe Taylor of Mosley, Burleane Mumpower, Richmond, Tommie and John Sheffey of Ivanhoe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mack and Dorothy Porter of Pulaski, Bobby and Barbara Porter of Louisa; a special friend, Margaret (Polly) Sayers; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Linkous, the Rev. Bob Billingsley officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad or the Wythe County Hospice. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
