SMOKING-CESSATION PROGRAMS PLANNED

Smokers who would like to quit smoking are being invited by the New River Health District to visit one of the two smoking-cessation programs that start next month in the New River Valley. Both programs involve free or low-cost classes and distribution of free nicotine patches:

"Freedom from Smoking Program and Nicotine Patches" begins Nov. 1. in Christiansburg. For more information or to register, call the Montgomery County Health Department, 382-6154.

"Fresh Start Smoking Cessation Program and Nicotine Patches" begins Nov. 9 in Pulaski. For more information or to register, call the Pulaski County Health Department, 980-1490.
