BLUE DEMONS RUN AWAY WITH 2 TITLES

Jeremy Cosgriff and Bethany Eigel won individual titles Thursday, leading Christiansburg to the boys' and girls' New River District cross country championships.

Cosgriff edged teammate Kevin Nolan by five seconds with a winning time of 16 minutes, 24 seconds, as the Blue Demons topped Blacksburg 21-34 to win their fifth consecutive district title.

Eigel, who began running cross country this year, whipped the field as the Blue Demons knocked off 1992 Group AA champion Blacksburg 25-43. She won by 50 seconds over the Indians' Sarah Hendricks, who finished second in the Group AA meet last year.
