OBIT-BROOKS, BERTHA MABE

BROOKS, Bertha Mabe, 86, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 1993, in a local hospital. She was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church and is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Brooks Stokes, Betty and E. Norman Hudson, Roanoke; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Ford Mabe, Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Marie Bergman, Montgomery, Ala., Ruby Metzgar, Chesapeake; and Nancy Coffee, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with Rev. Charles Hoffler officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, VA 24003-0554) or the American Heart Association (4504 Starkey Road, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014). Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
