REPORTED EARNINGS

CSX Corp.

CSX Corp., a Richmond-based transportation and real estate company with railroad operations in Western Virginia, reported earnings for the third quarter of $63 million, or 61 cents per share. In the third quarter of 1992, the company reported earnings of $128 million, or $1.25 per share.

For the quarter, revenue increased to $2.24 billion, from $2.21 billion in 1992.

\ Bellsouth Corp.

BellSouth Corp., the Atlanta-based parent of BellSouth Communication Systems of Roanoke, reported 1993 third-quarter income of $434.6 million, or 88 cents per share, compared with $344.9 million, or 70 cents per share, in the third quarter of 1992.

BellSouth's revenues reached $4.01 billion in the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with $3.7 billion in the same quarter a year ago.

\ Sears, Roebuck

Chicago-based Sears, Roebuck and Co., with retail operations in Roanoke, reported third-quarter 1993 income of $388.4 million, or 98 cents per share, compared with a loss of $853.8 million, or a loss of $2.30 per share, for the same period in 1992.

Income in the third quarter was $453.9 million, compared with a loss of $992.3 million for the same period in 1992.

\ ITT Corp.

ITT Corp., New York operator of a night-vision products plant and a gallium arsenide technology center in Roanoke County, reported that income for the third quarter of 1993 was $252 million, or $1.91 per share, on sales of $5.2 billion, compared with $113 million, or 80 cents per share, on sales of $5.5 billion, in the 1992 quarter.

\ The Allstate Corp.

The Allstate Corp., a Northbrook, Ill., insurance company with a regional operations center in Roanoke County, reported income for 1993's third quarter totaled $325.7 million, or 72 cents per share, against a net loss of $845.8 million for the third quarter of 1992.

Consolidated operating income for the quarter was $298.7 million, or 67 cents per share, vs. an operating loss of $844.1 million for the year-earlier period.

\ Tultex Corp.

Tultex Corp., a Martinsville fleece-wear maker with plants in Roanoke, Bland and Smyth counties, reported sales for the quarter ended Oct. 2 were $187 million, compared with $181 million for the same period in 1992.

Net income for the third quarter was $6,308,000, or 21 cents per share, compared with net income of $9,938,000, or 33 cents per share, for the same period last year.

\ Kollmorgen Corp.

Kollmorgen Corp., a Simsbury, Conn. manufacturer of motors and electronic drive systems with operations in Radford, reported income of $1.7 million, or 11 cents per share, on sales of $46.8 million during the third quarter, ended Sept. 30.

Comparable figures for the 1992 quarter were income of $369,000, equal to a loss of 2 cents per share, on sales of $48.2 million.
