Only this time, Radford kept the lead.
Radford won the caution-free 50-lap Late Model Stock Car feature race of the National Pistol 300 at Franklin County Speedway on Saturday night. Points leader Dudley Lawhorn started and finished second, unable to overtake Radford as he did Oct. 16.
The victory was Radford's first of the season after four second-place finishes.
"I feel like Tony McGuire," Radford said while accepting his trophy in victory lane. McGuire has won seven races this year and last.
Harvey Harrison, Lowe Smith and Carl Dadian placed third through fifth, respectively.
In other races:
Mike Dudley won his third consecutive Street Stock race, continuing his quest for second in the points race. Dale Marlowe took second, just ahead of Lonnie Foley.
Four drivers led portions of the Mini Stock competition, but Jimmy Cox, the winner Oct. 16, prevailed again. Randy Philpott was second, and Sonny Arrington finished third in one of his best efforts this season.
Pure Stock points leader R.W. Lawhorn bested 18 other drivers in their 25-lap race. Mike Owens, the 1992 points champion, dogged Lawhorn the entire way but fell two car lengths short. Leon Moles edged Red Hartman for third.
After four races and 125 laps without a yellow flag, the Rookies made up for it. A half-dozen cautions interrupted the racing, and then several drivers were disqualified because of illegal tires.
When the dust had cleared, Gary Clifton was awarded the victory. Points leader Steve Hurley was second, and Kevin Smith finished a season-best third.
Chris Davis won the Any Car race.
Next week's scheduled race, the regular-season finale, has been postponed a week because of Halloween. - Staff report
