OBIT - LEWIS, THELMA PETTY

LEWIS, Thelma Petty, 90, a lifetime resident of Salem, formerly of Hilton Village, passed away Saturday, October 23, 1993, at the Richfield Nursing Center. She was a retired employee at the V. A. Medical Center. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, an active member of the Ft. Lewis Chapter of the DAR. She was also a member of the Lake Spring Garden Club, holding a Va. Federation life membership. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane Farley Lewis of Roanoke, Douglas Ann and W. Terry Slusher of Roanoke; one sister, Doris Lawford-Norsworthy of Newport News; three grandchildren, Pamella Landau, Gwynn Hamel, Julie Slusher; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 1993 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, by the Rev. Kenneth Emmerling. Burial in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and other times at the Slusher residence.
