OBIT PITTMAN, EVALINE JONES
PITTMAN, Evaline Jones, "Granny Pitt", 79, of Vinton, died Saturday,
October 23, 1993. She was an active member of Thrasher Memorial United
Methodist Church and was honored by the women of the church with a lifetime
membership to the United Methodist Women. She retired from Smartwear Irving
Saks in 1986 and was the widow of Fielding Bridges Pittman. She was preceded
in death by three brothers. Surviving are her son, Tommy Fielding Pittman and
wife, Renay Alley Pittman, Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Joanne Pittman Mitchell
and husband, Bev. D. Mitchell, Vinton; grandsons, R. Terrill Flora and wife,
Valerie Bolen Flora, Roanoke, Sr. Airman Thomas Edward Pittman, Los Vegas,
Nev.; great-granddaughter, Michelle Caitlin Flora; sister, Evangeline Jones
Cain, Cadiz, Ky.; step grandsons, Kenny, Steve and Sam Mitchell; three nieces
and seven nephews. Services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 11
a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. William Anthony Layman officiating. Interment will
follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial
contributions be made to the Vinton Lifesaving Crew or the Vinton Vol. Fire
Dept. The family will receive friends Monday, from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
