REPORTED EARNINGS

Comair Holdings

Comair Holdings Inc. parent corporation of Comair Inc., Cincinnati-based regional airline operating at Roanoke Regional Airport as the Delta Connection, on Monday reported quarterly net income of $6.4 million, or 30 cents per share, on revenues of $72.7 million, up from $57,645, or 16 cents per share, in the 1992 quarter.

Earnings for the first six months of fiscal 1993 were $14.4 million, or 67 cents per share, on revenues of $143.2 million, up from $5.3 million, or 29 cents per share, on revenues of $113.5 million.

The board of directors also declared a 6-cents-per-share cash dividend for shareholders of record on Nov. 8, payable Nov. 17.

\ Sonic Corp.

Sonic Corp., Oklahoma City-based franchisor and operator of Sonic Drive-In restaurants including one in Roanoke, on Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $2.8 million, or 35 cents per share, compared with $2.3 million, or 30 cents per share, for the 1992 period. Revenues increased 24 percent to $25 million from $20.2 million. Earnings for the quarter included a $300,000 nonrecurring accrual related to litigation in Beaumont, Texas, with L&G Restaurant Corp. Exclusive of the one-time expense, fourth-quarter earnings were 38 cents per share.

Revenues for the year increased 25.7 percent, to $83.8 million from $66.7 million. Net income was $8.6 million, or $1.08 per share, compared with $6.8 million, or 87 cents per share, in 1992. Exclusive of the Texas litigation expense, 1993 earnings were $1.11 per share.

Systemwide sales rose 19.9 percent to $202 million for the fourth quarter and 15.2 percent to $691 million for the year.

\ Coca-Cola Bottling

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, Charlotte, N.C., parent of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Roanoke and operations in Clifton Forge, Dublin, Martinsville, Norton and Bristol, on Monday reported third-quarter net income of $5.7 million, or 62 cents per share, on sales of $181.9 million, compared with a loss of about $200,000, or 2 cents per share, on sales of $170.9 million, for the 1992 quarter.

For the first nine months, net income was $13.1 million, or $1.42 per share, on sales of $530.7 million, compared with a loss of $2 million, 22 cents per share, on sales of $492.9 million, for the 1992 period. Both the third-quarter and nine-months results were record earnings.

\ Modine Manufacturing

Modine Manufacturing Co., Racine, Wisc., maker of heating and ventilation equipment with operations in Buena Vista, on Monday reported record second-quarter earnings of $11.6 million, or 39 cents per share, on record sales of $156.9 million, up 37.3 percent from $8.5 million, or 28 cents per share, on sales of $144.6 million in the 1992 quarter.

For the half, net earnings reached a record $22.4 million, or 74 cents per share, on sales of $304.1 million, up 28.3 percent from $3.1 million, or 10 cents per share, on sales of $278.4 million in 1992. The 1992 figures include a one-time charge for postretirement benefits.

The board of directors also declared a quarterly dividend of 11.5 cents per share, payable on Dec. 9 to shareholders of record on Nov. 29.
