OBIT BARNES, HELEN B.
BARNES, Helen B., 78, of Robinhood Road, Bassett, died Sunday, October 24,
1993 at Memorial Hospital, Martinsville. Born in Washington, June 25, 1915,
she was a daughter of the late Nannie Dillon and William Luke Boone. She was
the widow of H.E. Barnes. She was a graduate of National Business College, a
volunteer with the American Red Cross, a member of Pocahontas Garden Club
Auxiliary and life member of Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs. She was a
member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church where a funeral service will be
held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Dale Ashley and Rev. Doug Ramsey
officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. Surviving are a
daughter, Mrs. Vincent W. (Nancy Jane) Turner Jr. of Collinsville; a son, H.
Edward Barnes Jr. of Pinehurst, N.C.; a sister, Irene Brown of Roanoke; three
grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at
Collins Funeral Chapel, Bassett. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Memorial Education Fund of Pocahontas Baptist Church (P.O. Box 507, Bassett,
Va. 24055) or Bassett Rescue Squad.
