GRETNA TOO BALANCED FOR FIELDALE-COLLINSVILLE

Sabrina Logan had 18 points and LaShawn Barber added 16 Tuesday night as Gretna rolled to a 64-39 Piedmont District girls' basketball victory over Fieldale-Collinsville.

The Hawks (7-8 district), led 27-15 at halftime and never were threatened.

GALAX - Angie Simpkins had 24 points to lead the Eagles to a Mountain Empire District victory.

Auburn (11-6, 10-5) gained control by outscoring Galax 18-10 in the third quarter.

Tammy Cox led Galax (10-7, 10-5) with 19 points and Jaclyn Dickens added 13.

\ Highland 49\ Bath County 31

MONTEREY - April Rexrode had all 12 of her points on 3-point goals and Amy Arbaugh scored a game-high 23 points has the Rams (4-11, 2-8) turned back Bath County in a Pioneer District game.

Ricketta Ricketts scored 10 for the Chargers (3-13, 0-9).

James River 70\ Craig County 32

BUCHANAN - Teresa Hickman scored 23 points to lead the Knights over the Rockets in a Pioneer District game.

James River (9-8, 7-2) used a balanced scoring attack to roll past Craig County. The Knights got 11 points from Angie Johnson and 10 each from Laura Cook and Camille Arbogast.

Chrissy Robertson scored 18 to lead the Rockets (4-12, 3-7).

Shawsville 75\ Bland 9

SHAWSVILLE - Kelley Ryan scored 15 points and Brandy Alexander and Amy Roberts chipped in 10 each as the Shawnees handed the Rockets their 17th loss.

Robin Burnette grabbed 15 rebounds and LaVonda Franklin had nine for Shawsville (11-6, 11-4) during the Mountain Empire contest.

Bland is 0-17, 0-15.
