OBIT WILLIAMS, VIRGINIA
WILLIAMS, Virginia, 90, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 15, 1993. She was
the widow of Gordon C. Williams. She was born near Reidsville, N.C., April 17,
1903, and moved to Roanoke in the early 1930's. She had no children of her
own, but after her mother's death, she established a home for her younger
brothers and sisters, whom she reared. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist
Church for close to 60 years and will be remembered by the congregation for
loyal support of all its activities. Though there are no surviving members of
her immediate family, she will be sadly missed by her church family and by her
extended family composed of those in the community to whom she had become
honorary grandmother, mother or aunt. Included among those who will miss her
greatly are members of the Fraim family, with whom she shared her love and her
life for over 50 years. A wake and memorial service will be held at
Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 28, 1993, from 7 to 8
p.m., with Dr. J. Eugene Young officiating. Interment will be private.
