OBIT-GARRETT, BESSIE BILBRO

GARRETT, Bessie Bilbro, 100, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 27, 1993. She was the widow of James William Garrett, and at the time of her death, the oldest member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Riley Dungan and husband Walter (Pat), of Roanoke, Betty Lou Atwood and husband Earl, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren and spouses, Mary Beth and Jimmie Jordan, Charlotte, N.C., Van and Lynne Riley, Knoxville, Tenn., Charlotte and Dr. Daniel Carlson, San Mateo, Calif., Lewis and Barbara Beckner, Phoenix, Ariz., Elizabeth ("Liz") and Scott Callaway, Radford; five great-grandchildren, Beth DeShazo, Roxanne Riley, Sam Becker, Chase and Courtney Callaway; one sister-in-law, Nancy Garrett Sjogren, of Bedford; a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside service in Evergreen Burial Park, 2 p.m. Saturday, with Dr. Dan Scott and the Rev. Thomas C. Clay officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 2014 Memorial Ave. S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24015, or the charity of your choice. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
