OBIT-WICKLINE, HERBERT ALEXANDER

WICKLINE, Herbert Alexander, 95, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, October 28, 1993. He was born September 28, 1898 in Amsterdam, Botetourt County, the son of the late James Thomas and Kate Crush Wickline. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Camper Wickline and his second wife, Annie Ruth Philpott Wickline. He is also preceded in death by his three brothers and five sisters. He was a charter member of Grandin Court Baptist Church, serving faithfully in many positions in both church and Sunday school. After retiring as president of Red Line Trucking Co. in 1949, he built the Parkway Motel and Restaurant and owned it for 22 years. He was a previous member of the Kiwanis Club. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William Thomas and Doris Wickline, Max Camper and Garnett Wickline, all of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Diana Williams, William Thomas Wickline, Jr., Trudy Creed, Dreama Williamson, Connie Breslin and Cindy Goodman; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Hibernia Wickline and Mary Wickline and other relatives and friends.
