OBIT-CALDWELL, MARY HELEN
CALDWELL, Mary Helen, 85, of Newport, died Tuesday morning in a Blacksburg
hospital. Born in the Clover Hollow section of Giles County near Newport, she
was a daughter of the late James Groves and Anna Mae Sarver Caldwell. Miss
Caldwell spent her lifetime in the educational systems of Giles and Montgomery
counties and surrounding areas as a teacher. She was a life member of the NEA
and a member of the DAR and UDC and served her community and Lord as a member
of the Sherry Memorial Christian Church near her home. She is survived by one
brother and sister-in-law, George and Peggy Caldwell, Narrows; a
sister-in-law, Frances S. Caldwell, Rich Creek; a brother-in-law, Earl Guynn,
Rich Creek; 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral
Home Chapel at Pembroke with the Rev. James Belcher officiating. Burial will
be in the Clover Hollow Cemetery near Newport. The family suggests that
memorial contributions may be made to the Sherry Memorial Christian Church at
Newport or the Blacksburg Christian Church at Blacksburg.
