MARY DRAPER INGLES RE-ENACTMENT NOV. 6

"The Discovery of Mary Draper Ingles in the Wilderness" will be performed by the cast of "The Long Way Home" outdoor drama on Nov. 6. The re-enactment will take place on property that is owned by a descendant of Adam Harmon, the man who found Ingles after she escaped from Indians and walked more than 800 miles.

There is no admission to the 11 a.m. performance. The Virginia Militia will perform at 10:30 a.m.

From Blacksburg, follow U.S. 460 west, turning left on Virginia 730. Continue to Virginia 772, turn right and immediately left on Sinking Creek Road. Signs will mark the way. Spectators will need to walk about one half mile downhill to the site.

Drinks will be available during the performance. A special luncheon will be held at the Eggleston Masonic Lodge following the performance, with Warren Williams demonstrating old Appalachian ways.
