On Nov. 13 at 10 a.m., there will be three Chalk Talks on "The Moral Depravity of Santa Claus," "Rural Communities" and "Treating Addiction: Adult Marijuana Dependence." Coffee will be served at 9:30 a.m. in 2062 Derring Hall before the talks.
Harlan Miller of the philosophy department will reveal the responsibility of Santa Claus for nearly all the world's problems in "The Moral Depravity of Santa Claus" in Derring 1076. This talk is not recommended for young children.
"Rural Communities" will be presented by Cornelia Flora, head of the sociology department, and Jan Flora of agricultural economics. They will show the way the economic base and culture of communities can yield positive change. This talk will be held in 3076 Derring.
Robert Stephens of clinical psychology will look at the most commonly used methods of treating drug addiction, which he says have the least support. He also will discuss another form of treating addiction that is less costly and more effective. The talk will be held in 3092 Derring.
