The Wildcats (6-3 overall, 4-1 district) hold a half-game lead over Salem (6-2, 3-1), which still has a district game Nov. 12 at home against Northside.
Rockbridge County pounded out 356 yards on the ground, led by Woody Newman's 100 yards and one touchdown. Kenny Lewis added 90 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns, one on a 37-yard interception return.
Lord Botetourt (5-3, 0-3) turned over the ball five times. \
Alleghany 40

The Mountaineers' David Cummings rushed for 159 yards and scored five touchdowns as Alleghany ripped the Terriers in a Blue Ridge District game.
Cummings had scoring runs of 8, 40, 48 and 7 yards and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from David Dixon. Todd Cook scored the other touchdown for Alleghany (6-3, 2-2).
Chris Almond caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Matt Bryant to account for the only touchdown for William Byrd (4-4, 1-3).

The Highlanders scored twice in the fourth quarter to turn back the Rockets in a Pioneer District game.
Eric East rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns for Glenvar (3-5, 3-1), and Anthony Sykes recovered a fumble in the end zone as the Highlanders won their homecoming game.
Craig County relied on quarterback Robbie Huffman for most of its offense. Huffman ran for 94 yards and a touchdown and passed for 80 yards and a two-point conversion. Kristopher Peters went 30 yards to complete the scoring for the Rockets (0-8, 0-4). \
James River 38
Kenston Forest 28
Freshman Wesley Cox sparked a second-half explosion in the Knights' non-district comeback victory over the visitors from Kenston Forest.
With his team down 22-8 at halftime, Cox returned the second-half kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown. On Kenston Forest's next possession, he stripped running back Timmy Gray of the ball and rumbled 26 yards for a touchdown to give James River (2-6) a 23-22 lead.
Kenston Forest (4-6) came back to take a 28-23 lead in the third on a 28-yard Gray touchdown pass, but the Knights scored twice in the fourth to complete the comeback. Shahan Burrell scored on a 10-yard touchdown run, and Cox scored on a 42-yard run.
The Knights rolled up 304 yards on the ground, paced by Cox's 149 yards on 24 carries and Burrell's 121 yards on 20 carries.

\ BEDFORD - Eight players scored for the Minutemen as they romped past the Golden Eagles in the Seminole District.
Cory Gilmore got things started with an 80-yard kickoff return, and quarterback Mike Padgett threw two touchdown passes as Liberty improved its record to 6-2 overall and in the district.
Staunton River (0-8, 0-8) was outgained 366 total yards to 109. The Golden Eagles did not complete a pass.
Greg Short led Liberty with 86 rushing yards.

Roanoke Catholic 6
WAYNESBORO - Fishburne overcame five fumbles - all of which the Celtics recovered - and rolled to a Virginia Independent Conference victory.
Fishburne (3-4, 1-3) led 29-0 at halftime, and its defense kept Roanoke Catholic out of the end zone until the fourth quarter. The Celtics (4-5, 2-3) were held to 179 yards total offense.
Jimmy Kroll led Fishburne with 103 yards rushing and one touchdown on 23 carries. Quarterback Jimmy Hall ran for 44 yards and two touchdowns, and passed for 64 yards and one touchdown.
P.J. Moyer led the Celtics with 131 yards rushing and one touchdown on 19 carries.
