OBIT PRESTON, BERNICE

PRESTON, Bernice, 51, of Eldercare Nursing Home, Rocky Mount, died Thursday, October 28, 1993, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Rocky Mount. She was the daughter of Ernest Preston and Queen Hairston, born May 4, 1942, Martinsville, and a resident of Henry County and Connecticut. She was an employee of Sikorsky Aircraft-Assembly and a member of Gethsemane Pentecostal Holiness Church, Bassett, Watchcare member at Ebenezer Gospel Assembly, Bridgeport, Conn., and a member of the choir and active participant of the church. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Claudia Mae Hairston Preston; five sisters, Ms. Eva Marlene Redd, Bassett, Mrs. Simmona Simmons Hode, Severna Park, Md., Mrs. Claudia Ernestine Lane (Tina), Bassett, Miss Sidney Preston, Collinsville, Mrs. Wanda Penn, Martinsville; eight brothers, Bishop Mac Daniel Preston, Fieldale, Thurman Ruth Preston, Newport News, Elder Wilbert Gwan Preston, Fieldale, Michael Grant Preston, Bassett, Ozzie Dwight Preston, Bassett, Darius Kevin Preston, Eden, N.C., Avery Julian Preston, Martinsville, Steven Varion Preston, Bassett. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 31, 1993, 2 p.m. at Gethsemane Pentecostal Holiness Church with Elder Wilbert Gwan Preston officiating. Interment in Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday, October 30, from 7 to 8 p.m. and will be at the home of her mother at other times, (S.R. 698 - Blackberry Rd.), Bassett.
