OBIT GIBSON, LEWIS E.

GIBSON, Lewis E., 66, of Vinton, died Saturday, October 30, 1993, in a local hospital. He was a member of Barnhardt Baptist Church and a former longtime member of Riverdale Baptist Church. He was retired from A&P and Harris Teeter Supermarkets. He was a graduate of William Byrd High School, Class of 1948, a Naval Veteran of World War II and a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was the beloved husband of 45 years of Mary Bowles Gibson, the devoted father and father-in-law of Marilyn Kelley of Goodview, Carol and Jimmy Savides of Bridgewater, Beverly and Briant Campbell of Rocky Mount, and the much adored granddaddy of Joshua and Joanna Kelley, Michael Savides, Lauren Phillips and Chase Campbell. Also surviving are two sisters, Helen Harris of Wilmington, N.C. and Betty Scott Urbanski of Palm Beach, Fla. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Terry A. Mabrey and the Rev. Robert W. Lanier officiating. Military honors will be by VFW Post #1264. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Vinton or Stewartsville Life Saving Crew.
